Elvis Costello Announces 2025 Tour Dates With Steve Nieve
Elvis Costello has just announced details of his 2025 tour with his Attractions/Imposters bandmate, Steve Nieve. The run mainly sticks on the East Coast, before hitting up Ann Arbor, Michigan on March 8, before winding down the tour with a three-night stand in Chicago on March 11, 12, and 14. Costello just released a massive box set reissue of his celebrated 1986 album, King of America, on November 1. Noah Weiland, the son of late Stone Temple Pilots singer Scott Weiland, has released his new single, “2 Nights,” as well as an accompanying music video for the track. Noah was previously in the rock offspring supergroup, Suspect208, which also featured London Hudson (son of Guns N’ Roses’ Slash) and Tye Trujillo (son of Metallica’s Robert Trujillo). Following his ouster from that band due to his “dark path of drug use,” Noah went to rehab and has subsequently released a series of alt-pop songs that includes “Good Riddance & Goodbye” and “Yesterday.” Those singles, along with “2 Nights” will most likely be included on Weiland’s full-length debut album, Call Jesus, which is set to be released sometime in 2025. “I’m not a trust fund baby or anything like that,” Noah told Rolling Stone in 2023. “I always get annoyed when people say that type of stuff. My dad was millions in debt when he died.” (Consequence of Sound)

In a new interview with Ultimate Classic Rock, drummer Jason Bonham opened up about his recent departure from Sammy Hagar’s Best of All Worlds touring band. Bonham, the son of legendary Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham, played in Hagar’s live band since 2015 and was on drums for three of Sammy’s studio albums. But during the end of their summer tour, Bonham had to leave the band to care for his ailing mother. Kenny Aronoff filled in for Bonham during the final four dates of the tour, and when Hagar announced a 2025 Las Vegas residency, the Red Rocker decided to stick with Aronoff on drums. “Sammy rang me awhile ago,” Bonham recalled. “He was asking about my mom, but then he said, ‘Y’know, I’m not gonna do much next year, and I’m gonna go with Kenny.’ I was a little shocked, because we were on fire at the end of the tour. And I got a little upset. That was strange, after 10 years of being with him.” (Consequence of Sound)

The Killers took to Instagram on Tuesday (November 19) to announce that they will be playing three more Hot Fuss shows in Las Vegas in 2025, and that they will be filming the final two shows for a planned future release. The encore dates on The Killers Live In Las Vegas residency are scheduled on January 22, 24, and 25, and will once again take place at The Colosseum at Caesar’s Palace. Earlier this year, the Killers celebrated the 20th anniversary of their debut album by playing it in full across 10 sold-out shows in their hometown of Vegas, and these encore shows should bring the critically acclaimed run to a memorable conclusion. “We liked our Vegas show so much that we’re coming back for a limited run in January,” the band captioned their post. “We’re filming the final two shows to preserve it for posterity, so come join us and be part of history as we play Hot Fuss in its entirety three more times.” (NME)

The headliners for Coachella 2025 will be Lady Gaga, Green Day, Post Malone (who already confirmed his appearance in his Big Ass Stadium Tour announcement on Tuesday), and Travis Scott. Other artists on the bill include Charli XCX, FKA twigs, Missy Elliott, Megan Thee Stallion, Kraftwerk, The Prodigy, The Misfits, The Go-Go’s, Three 6 Mafia, Jimmy Eat World, and dozens more.
This will be Lady Gaga’s second time headlining Coachella, after she stepped in to replace a pregnant Beyoncé in 2017. Green Day, who have made frequent festival appearances over the years, have surprisingly never played Coachella. However, frontman Billie Joe Armstrong joined the Replacements during their 2014 festival set. Post Malone performed in Coachella’s Sahara Tent in 2018 and has made numerous guest appearances in the past, but this will mark his first time headlining the festival. Travis Scott was tapped to headline Coachella 2020 before it was canceled due to the pandemic. The rapper was scheduled again in 2022, but was removed from the lineup following the 2021 crowd stampede at his Astroworld Festival, which resulted in the death of 10 people. (Consequence of Sound)

Coldplay wrote a song inspired by Ralph Macchio’s beloved movie character, Daniel LaRusso, so when the band decided to make a music video for “The Karate Kid,” it was only fitting that they asked Macchio to take part. The track, which appears on the expanded Full Moon edition of the band’s recent Billboard 200 No. 1 album, Moon Music, pays tribute to the heroism and bravery of Daniel from 1984’s original The Karate Kid film. “When Chris Martin pops up on your FaceTime asking you to help create a video to accompany what I found to be a beautifully emotional and poignant song – one inspired by a film I made over 40 years ago – there was only one answer,” said the 63-year-old Macchio, who portrays a struggling street busker in the Chris Candy-directed clip. The group filmed portions of the video during their October 31 show at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium, with special guest Macchio joining the band on stage to the surprise of the sold-out crowd. During a new interview with The Sunday Times, the Who’s Pete Townshend opened up about his mental health issues and his struggle with “chemical depression.” The musician writes in his journal each morning, trying to rid himself of dark thoughts that plague his mind. “When I first wake up I’m suicidal, actually suicidal,” the 79-year-old Townshend disclosed. He says he typically gets up between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. each day, explaining, “I’m still in the state that I was the day before.” Townshend will have a cup of tea then start writing, which helps ease his troubled mind. “So now I just write journals. Every morning I rebuild myself in a sense with tea and coffee, and a few vitamin pills,” Townshend says. “If I start my journals before I have my cup of tea, I’ll paint a very bleak picture of my life. Despite the fact that I have everything that I want and everything that I need … And I have had a really extraordinary life.” (Consequence of Sound)

Filmmaker Frank Marshall has been tapped to helm a forthcoming Fleetwood Mac documentary for Apple. The documentary will include new interviews with the four core surviving members of Fleetwood Mac — Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham, Mick Fleetwood, and John McVie — alongside recent and archival interviews with the late Christine McVie, who died in 2022. “I am fascinated by how this incredible story of enormous musical achievement came about,” the Oscar-nominated Marshall said in a statement. “Fleetwood Mac somehow managed to merge their often chaotic and almost operatic personal lives into their own tale in real time, which then became legend. This will be a film about the music and the people who created it.” (Rolling Stone)

During Paul McCartney’s headlining set that closed out the 2024 edition of Corona Capital music festival in Mexico City on Sunday night (November 18), the Beatles’ legend was joined by Jack White and St. Vincent during a spirited closing performance of the Abbey Road classic, “The End.” White and St. Vincent were featured as part of the festival lineup earlier that day, with both musicians joining McCartney for his triumphant finale performance. St. Vincent – who previously collaborated with McCartney on “Woman and Wives” for 2021’s McCartney III Imagined – also joined in with Macca during a fiery take on “Get Back” earlier in the set. Surprisingly, this marked White’s – a self-professed Beatles fanatic – first time ever sharing the stage with McCartney, and the Detroit music legend captured the historic moment on Instagram for posterity’s sake. White’s Third Man Records team commented on the post, “Legends all around. Jack didn’t quit smiling.” (Consequence of Sound)

Love shared her thoughts about “Violet” in a statement that was shared by her team: “It’s not just about Billy Corgan, as many might assume; it’s about sitting on the fire escape of his flat, sipping cheap wine and taking a Vicodin (oh, to be young!) while the Chicago sun sets, leaving behind a bejeweled amethyst sky. The piece also touches on the theme of being caught between two boys—representing the angel and devil within me, as well as my own nature.” (NME)
