Oh hello!
It’s been a minute since you heard from me, right?
Another New York Comic-Con has come and gone, and with it comes this write-up about my experience and a photo album filled with wonderful memories.
New York Comic-Con is not only the biggest event in New York City for fans of the industry – it’s probably the second largest comic event in the world, second only to the iconic San Diego Comic Con.
This year’s event featured spotlight guests such as Ewan McGregor, Chris Evans, David Tennant, Tom Hiddleston, Sean Gunn, Michael Rooker, Pom Klementieff, Chukwudi Iwuji, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and many many more.
It’s a tricky time for actors to be appearing at events like this. As I write this post, SAG-AFTRA is still on strike, so they’re not allowed to talk about any projects that they’re working on, and studios only have executive producers and production designers chatting with the press and the convention guests.
There is nothing weirder than going to a feature panel at New York Comic Con focusing on a single actor and hearing them talk about… well… anything other than acting. From Ewan McGregor evaluating the relative merits of New York bagels, to David Tennant discussing Shakespeare, to Chris Evans only spending 20 minutes on stage, most of it taken up with talk about his beloved dog, Dodger.
Still, fans got to be in the same room with their faves in person, so it was an enjoyable experience. Not only did the fans seem happy to be there in the event at its height, but so did the creators – allowing the event to maintain the best of both worlds!
Mark your calendars – New York Comic-Con takes place October 17th – 20th, 2024.
Now, on with the photos!
